know it probably seems like I don't care that New Orleans, the most
beautiful city I've ever visited, is under water and there are people
starving and dying there. After all, I haven't blogged about it (until
now), written about it, or participated in any threads on any message
boards I frequent about it.

Nothing
could be further from the truth. I am pissed off, I am angry. I am
sad, too. However, I don't trust the media, I don't trust their spin,
I don't trust the President and I sure as hell don't trust what most
people say about most things.

I'm
really reluctant to even get involved in actively caring now that
Michael Moore has stuck his fat ass into the proceedings. If anybody's
a master of spin, it's him. I don't like him, I don't like his bleeding
heart, and the only movie of his I like is 'Canadian Bacon'. I will
probably never see the hard facts on this - they'll be distorted and
masked to suit Dubya and his precious photo-ops and I'll never see the
truth.

The
conservatives and the liberals have their view, and it seems like my
middle of the road, this sucks, things need to be done, get the damn
water and MRE's and antibiotics in there view has no place in this kind
of a tragedy because it isn't nearly dramatic enough.

There are so many things I could say and want to say.

I
want to know why the city leaders of New Orleans didn't have a better
evacuation plan in mind, planned out, and distributed and aired on TV
and radio at least weekly during hurricane season.

I
want to know why Dubya thought it was OK to divert funds from the
budget for levee repair/Army Corps of Engineers for his little war in
the big sandbox, and why Baghdad's infrastructure is so much more
important than New Orleans'.

I
want to know why in fuck our national guard troops are over in Iraq (on
15 month tours of duty while enslisted army is only there for 4 mo at a
time) instead of here in the the U.S. doing what they were trained and
signed up to do.

I
also know that if I begin to loosen the chink in the armor and think
about it, I will be such an emotional mess I will be worthless for
anything else. My baby is sick and I have to keep my focus here.

And
I know I'll be called selfish for that, for worrying about my own one
child who at least has AC, food, water, access to diapers and medical
care instead of worrying about all the sick babies in New Orleans and
other hurricane zones who don't have those things right now, but too
bad. My own child comes first.

Thursday, August 11, 2005

I'm probably not going to be using Xanga much anymore - I've been using MySpace for a while and I like it better.

Ok, you totally have to imagine a rubber ducky on top of it...it's
supposed to look like a bubble bath. Today was way hot for
frosting so it's kind of droopy.
channel selection I have when I caught, live on CSpan2, the spacewalk
to repair the tile spacers on Discovery's underbelly! Way
cool! They kept panning the camera around, you could see the
Earth and clouds and ocean. I watched the 15 min that were left
and Freyja watched a little too.
